Newy-Con to debut at the Coates Newcastle Show 2026
The Coates Newcastle Show is thrilled to announce the launch of Newy-Con, Newcastle’s first ever pop culture style celebration, arriving as one of the major entertainment highlights of the 2026 event.
For the first time in Newcastle Show history, fans of movies, TV, gaming and pop culture will be able to step inside an immersive world of superheroes, fantasy, sci-fi and everything in between. Newy-Con will take place inside the Exhibition Centre and is included with all Newcastle Show tickets.
Newy-Con promises an epic three day celebration for fans of all ages, featuring:
- A full scale cosplay competition where visitors can dress up, stand out and show off their creativity
- Live panels with creators, artists and fan communities
- Pop culture stalls, collectables, displays and interactive experiences
- Photo opportunities, character meet and greets and surprises throughout the day
Newcastle Show President Peter Evans said Newy-Con adds a fresh and exciting dimension to the 2026 event.
“The Coates Newcastle Show has always celebrated the best of our community and our culture. Newy Con brings an entirely new experience for families, teens and fans across the Hunter. It will be a colourful, energetic and unique addition to our program and we are excited to welcome Newcastle’s first Comic Con to the Show.”
Newy-Con organisers are equally excited to bring the city its very own pop culture festival.
